Throughout his career, Styles has never been afraid to push boundaries and challenge traditional gender norms with his fashion. Love on Tour was no exception, serving as a platform for Styles to showcase his ever-evolving and distinctive sense of style. One of the key features in Harry’s “style” is his fearless approach to gender-fluid dressing. Whether he puts on a glittering jumpsuit, a sheer blouse, or a flowing dress, Styles effortlessly blurred the lines between masculine and feminine fashion, embracing fluidity and self-expression with each outfit. With Harry Styles’ looks three things he never misses are color, texture, and uniqueness in his looks. One famous piece that Harry never loses in his outfits is feathers. Let’s not forget Harry Styles being the king of fun color and pattern in his iconic looks Looking at all these outfits we notice a common theme of pattern, colors, flares, feathers, and sparkles which all fit into the iconic Harry Styles look. This all also fits in the aesthetics of his Fine Line Album which has kind of the 70s look to it if you come to think of it; with the flared pants fun colors and the type of cuts that were famous during the 70s. Harry’s joy with fashion as he describes it in his iconic Vogue interview says, “There’s so much joy to be had in playing with clothes. Taylor Swift: "Eras Tour"March 2023 Taylor Swift has become a cultural phenomenon as the Eras Tour kicked off in March 2023. The woman who raised a whole generation gave us the gift of the Eras Tour that celebrates Taylor Swift’s career from her country days now transformed to her pop career, and how her style has grown and transformed. Taylor Swift is known for her ability of storytelling through her album, but not only that, the Eras tour was a story told by Taylor Swift through not only her songs but also through fashion. In the perspective of a Swiftie, each Era has a character. Taylor Swift has definitely personified every Era through fashion. Each time Taylor exits the stage with a different outfit on, Swifties knows which Era we are all in. Fashion in the Eras tour commanded the stage and the crowd; it was a form of communication. Now, let’s embark on a journey together exploring each Taylor Swift Era. Let us start our journey with the Lover Era. The album cover is filled with a palette of pink and purple as Taylor personifies this in her custom Versace bedazzled leotard matched with custom studded Louboutin boots as she opens with Miss Amricana and the Heartbreak Prince. The jewels pay homage to the colour palette of Swift’s Lover album at the same time it embodies growth, comfort, femininity, “basking in the glow of daylight” (Pawa,2023) and most importantly establishing her power in the music industry. Taylor Swift then puts on a blazer over the same outfit to perform her song from the same album, The Man. The bedazzled blazers sent an important message from the song, as a powerful woman in a male-dominated industry. The combination of the blazer with the boots communicates how women can become bosses in the music industry. While the song communicates how much more power she would have if she were a man, her success truly proves that she does not need to be a man to be the boss. Fringes are a must in the Fearless Era, as it serves as an accessory for her famous twirl with her guitar as she sings Fearless. Both of these dresses are custom-made by Roberto Cavalli, where the second one, is embellished with Swarovski crystals. These gold and silver dresses pay homage to her 2009 Fearless dress. This new spin on the 2009 version shows Taylor’s growth as an artist. As we venture into the evermore era, she is golden in this simplistic embroidered dress custom-made by Etro, where she started the era off with a dark green cape where she sang willow, fitting into the theme within the woods with a bit of ominous feeling, as the stage transforms into a dark foggy forest. Taylor is met with this moss-filled piano sticking within the color palette of keeping the vibes of the forest. Her dress makes her appear as if she’s the light within the forest as it is the same color as the glowing orbs during her willow performance. Her dress has a similar glow to what it would be like if you lit a candle in the midst of the forest. We make a huge shift as we venture into the Reputation era with this fully black and red custom Roberto Cavalli body suit that has its unique asymmetrical design, of course, bedazzled in black and red rhinestones. We can see the iconic easter egg of a snake that runs through the whole body suit, which she has referred to through her song, Look What You Made Me Do, and in her Reputation tour back in 2018. This half-bodysuit might have also been an ester egg to her “Reputation”, partially in the shadows and emerging out of it becoming a new person represented with her body half exposed and half of it being covered. The Speak Now Era enchants us with this beautiful princess-like ballgown look which pays homage to the 2014 Taylor Swift as she performed Speak Now. This time she performs one song from the album, Enchanted. Taylor changes ball gowns in each of her performances but the common theme is that the sparkles rain from the top of the dress down to the ends of the dress creating a rain or flower petals flowing down effect, giving that princess-like enchanted look. Some even say it gives a firework effect, while at one show it also happens that fireworks appeared during her Speak Now set that was not part of the Eras tour. We move on to the very familiar Red Era which seems familiar to a lot of us. This infamous 22 outfit can be seen in the 22 music video where Taylor has developed a routine of giving away the 22 hat to a lucky fan towards the end of the performance. Although fans have noticed the difference in writing from the Eras tour version of the outfit from the music video. In the music video the shirt writes “Not a lot going on at the moment” whereas in the Eras tour, Taylor changes it to “A LOT going on at the moment” emphasizing it and putting the writing in bolded red, which seems like a reference to the success of her career compared to when she was 22. The writing does change throughout her different shows. Her special 10-minute version of All Too Well gets an outfit just for itself. Taylor has expressed how this has been her favourite song throughout this album therefore creating its special short film that she had directed all by herself. The first version released was only the 5-minute version as Taylor later revealed to her fans she had accidentally written a song that was 10 minutes long, and fans demanded that she release the full version. From then on this has been one of the fan favourites getting its spotlight and outfit. This outfit pays homage to the sparkly red outfit she wore during her Red tour. We embark on Taylor’s storytelling world that had been created with folklore in this beautiful muted purple Alberta Ferretti ruffled dress with flares. Vogue describes this as “fairy in the woods meets cozy baking in a cottage” which perfectly expresses the right vibes of this fairytail-filled Era. The muted purple was also meant for the dramatic effect of her songs within the album that express sorrow. Although a lot of fans speculated that this was an easter egg for the Speak Now Taylor’s Album that was about to be released at that time. Because…
Singing in Style, Swift brings back the fringes in her 1989 Era in another Roberto Cavalli two-piece custom set as she Shake(s) it off in chinky fringe with sequins. The look varies in color in each show, from green, to pink and the iconic color for this era is sky blue. The look is a recreation of her sequenced piece during her 1989 tour from 2014. Taylor then shifts into her acoustic set where she plays surprise songs that do not intend for a repeat in each show in this simple but elegant wrap dress with a color that matches the lyrics of Maroon as she sings “the burgundy on my t-shirt when you splashed your wine…” while her dress replicates the words coming out of her song. The color does change in each show as the songs do change in this part of the tour. Reaching our final destination of the Eras tour, we are met with the Midnights Era as Taylor emerges from the Lavender Haze appearing in this Lavender Oscar de la Renta sequined loose dress matched with a faux fur coat that features dangling iridescent crystals. Taylor then peels away this outfit revealing an Oscar de la Renta custom body suit with intricate detailing from the sequins with the slightest detail on the garter on her thighs to perform the soft but sexy number of her song Vigilante Sh*t. With the song’s dark and slow beat, this choice in style matches the vibe. Saying her farewell to the crowd in this same Oscar de la Renta Bejewelled in over 5,000 beads resembling the Midnight sky. As she performed her final song, Karma in this rainbow-tasseled jacket matched with her dancers in different colors. Let’s just say this is the final piece to celebrate the different colors of talent of her performers who performed with her to complete the whole show. Fashion in the Eras tour is the main controlling element, other than the stage aesthetics. Fashion aesthetics serves as a personification for each character that Taylor portrays for each Era. The visual representation of each of her milestones and the story told from her lyrics are told through the elements of her outfit. Each custom is made and thought out to fit each song in order to communicate its core. Truly, the one and only Taylor Swift never goes out of Style. Beyonce: "Renaissance Tour"May 2023 Exploring Beyonce’s Renaissance tour fashion was very much inspired by the theme from her Renaissance album. This included a lot of silver, catsuit, futuristic glasses, sequins, fun hats, and body suits. Beyonce has explored over 140 looks this entire tour. Being Queen B, she has of course explored the world’s top designers courtesy of her stylist, Shiona Turini. The term “Renaissance” conjures images of sophistication and artistic expression, and Beyonce effortlessly incorporates these elements into her tour wardrobe. One of the most notable aspects of Beyonce’s tour wardrobe is her fearless approach to mixing high fashion with streetwear. She effortlessly combines couture pieces with edgy urban staples, creating looks that are both glamorous and relatable. As we know, Beyonce always starts with a bang with her bedazzled playsuit custom-made by Guiseppe Zanotti as she dangles above the stage recreating her iconic Renaissance album cover with a silver horse. Of course with fashion Beyonce will always accentuate that ethereal performance along with her godly aura in her fashion.
That might steal your attention, but it will never steal Beyonce’s spotlight from her performances that never disappoint. Vogue describes her Renaissance tour fashion as a showcase of the top-tier most well-known brands fitting them all into a Rennaissance-shaped peg. As we can see Beyonce celebrates femininity and strength through her wardrobe. She seamlessly transitions from regal gowns to bold, form-fitting ensembles that accentuate her curves and most definitely commands attention to not only her performances but her individuality as a whole. Beyond the stage. Beyonce’s influence on fashion extends far and wide. Through her Renaissance wardrobe, she continues to set trends, spark conversations, and push the industry forward. As fans eagerly anticipated each of these ensembles along with the long-awaited comeback of Beyonce, we are all reminded of her power and influence in the music and fashion industry. Doja Cat: "Scarlet Tour"October 2023 Doja Cat’s journey as an artist began with the unconventional “MOOO!” which quickly gained her a dedicated following. Despite initial skepticism, her authenticity drew many, including myself, who resonated with her journey of self-acceptance. Following successful albums like “Amala” and “Hot Pink,” her 2021 release “Planet Her”, catapulted her to stardom, leading to her newest album “Scarlet” along with the “Scarlet” tour. With the “Scarlet” tour, Doja delves into a new sonic landscape, drawing inspiration from the hard edged beats of NYS in the ‘94 and the pulsating energy of Chicago in 2012. It’s a departure from her previous sound, marked by edgier rhymes and raw lyrics that reflects her evolution as an artist. Although, it’s not just the music that defines the tour—its also the visuals. From her stage performance to the outfits she’s worn, every aspect is meticulously curated to immerse the audience in the world of “Scarlet”. In these two outfits, Doja aims to capture an edgy aesthetic as it can be evidently seen in her choice of multiple black clothing pieces with diverse textures. From the leather accents to the delicate lace details, each element adds depth and personality to her look, reflecting her confidence and fearless approach to fashion. Additionally, adding to the atmosphere, as mentioned earlier, is the presence of a giant spider looming overhead—a striking visual that adds an unexpected twist to the immersive experience of her performance. Despite “Scarlet” representing a departure from her previous pop sound, Doja’s fashion choices remain a vital part of her self-expression. While her music style has shifted, her love for experimenting with fashion continues to be a defining feature of her persona. Contrasting with the all black outfit in the previous images, this outfit bursts with color and vitality, specifically mirroring the outfits she wore in her “Planet Her” concerts, where she dazzled everyone with her colorful attire and eclectic mix of fabrics. It is a reminder of her ability to reinvent her music style while staying true to her unique fashion sense. Ultimately, these outfits are more than just clothes—they’re a reflection of Doja’s evolving identity and her ongoing journey of self-discovery. I believe that through her fashion choices, she invites us to embrace our individuality and celebrate the beauty of self-expression. Olivia Rodrigo: "GUTS Tour"February 2024 Olivia Rodrigo’s “GUTS” tour outfit evokes a distinct nostalgia that takes us back to the era of American pop stars—think of the iconic “Tori Vega” from the tv show “Victorious.” Just like Tori, Olivia lights up the stage with her performances, dressed in eye-catching ensembles that sparkle with sequins, playful patterned tights, sleek leather accents, and trendy boots. However, Olivia isn’t merely imitating Tori—she's adding her own unique touch. With each outfit, she infuses her distinct style and personality, blending classic elements with contemporary flair. Additionally, she pairs up each outfit to distinct songs, matching each one to the vibe and tone of the songs. In the beginning of her performance, Olivia sets the tone with a dazzling display of sequins and tights. This ensemble accompanies her renditions of “Bad Idea Right?”, “Ballads of a Homeschooled Girl”, “Vampire”, “Traitor”, and “Driver’s License” — all of which are among her most beloved tracks. She starts with three songs from her latest album “GUTS”, and concludes with the last two from her previous album, “SOUR”. Throughout these songs, Olivia effortlessly connects them to vulnerability and exhilaration, striking a perfect balance that keeps the audience captivated.
In these three images, Olivia wears a bold red sequin romper that is meticulously tailored to accentuate her figure. She’s paired it with sleek black boots and star patterned tights. This ensemble perfectly matches the three songs she sings whilst wearing it; “Brutal”, “Obsessed”, “All-American B*tch”. Each song exudes a rockstar vibe, with guitar-driven melodies at their core.
